This project aimed to raise awareness, inform and empower urban poor mothers from the marginal region of Cusco on issues of child nutrition using the most used medium: radio.
Every weekend, radio programs were broadcasted in both Spanish and Quechua, in formats that were friendly to the traditional cultural identity of the population. With those radio programs we aimed to prevent or reduce child malnutrition, which is dramatically affecting many children in Cusco.
Broadcasting a radio program allowed us to spread our information, activities and knowledge massively through a radio station (Successful Radio 88.3 FM). The mothers who were broadcasting in the program acquired their knowledge of health and nutrition during the Miski Wawa program in which they participated earlier.
The program was made possible by the enthusiasm of both broadcasters and promotional mothers.
