BENEFICIARY POPULATION

The target population of CEDNA included the poor families of the urban and rural areas with children aged from 6 months to 6 years, adolescents and mothers.

Malnourished children from 6 months to 6 years old

The first group is the most vulnerable group and included the malnourished children aged from 6 months to 6 years and they are living in very difficult circumstances. As is known, the first years of life are critical for the rest of the life. The formation of the brain and other vital organs of the child occur during pregnancy and in the first three years of life. For this reason, this period becomes the most critical period of life of every individual and the changes or delays that occur have irreversible consequences, namely remain for the rest of their lives. Apart from genetics there are other factors such as nutrition, health and early stimulation that are critical in brain development and in determining whether a child is safe, confident and healthy.

Disadvantaged youth from 16 to 24 years old
The second group included the young people aged from 16 to 24 years old. These young people no longer live with their parents (they left themselves or were abandoned), most of the times they have no training or education and little or no income. This group concerns especially street children, for example, shoeshine children, collectors of passenger buses, children who are selling sweets in the streets, informal street jobs and animal herders in the countryside.

Mothers
The third group included the mothers of those involved in health and training projects. They often have no training, education and/or income. From experience we know that they are mainly single mothers and indigenous people.
